Preparing the Site

Once you approve the quote, our crew schedules an installation date convenient for you. We arrive with all necessary commercial-grade equipment and materials for the job. After marking the planned fence line based on the agreed layout, we remove any existing vegetation or obstructions along the site.

For standard installations, we excavate post holes spaced 8 ft apart and approximately 24-30 inches deep. Hole depth varies based on fence height and local soil conditions. We assess the soil stability and install gravel and concrete as needed to fortify the posts. Proper site preparation is crucial for long-term fence stability.

Installing the Fence Posts and Wires

With the holes dug, we set sturdy pressure-treated 4×4 posts into each cavity, verifying they are perfectly plumb. We pour concrete into the holes up to 2 ft below grade. As the concrete cures over the next few days, it anchors the posts in place.

Once the concrete sets, we string 4-5 lines of 12-gauge barbed wire between the posts, using galvanized fasteners for corrosion resistance. For added security and rigidity, some customers prefer us to install wire mesh fencing between the posts before adding the barbed wire lines.

Proper wire tensioning is critical to prevent future sagging issues. Our crew uses commercial wire stretchers and tension bars to pull each line to approximately 250 lbs of tension. We also install truss rods or diagonal cross-bracing as needed based on fence height and span length between corner posts.

With the structural wiring complete, we install the barbed wire, carefully spacing each line 12 inches apart. For additional trespass prevention, some customers request an angled barb wire configuration with lines closer together near the top.

As the final step, we fasten decorative post caps to the top of each post, adding an attractive finished look. Our crew cleans the site, hauls away debris, and reviews the completed fence installation. We can also provide staining or sealant for the posts if desired.
